We continue to work on our mission of improving the City of Rittman Police Department while realizing culture change takes a long time. I believe we have made major strides in our commitment to improving the safety of the community. We made it a priority to respond professionally to all crimes. We will continue to engage with community members and collaborate with external resources in order to solve problems in the city.
I require our officers to be honest, approachable, and positive while providing excellent service to the community. We remain in compliance with the “best practices” standards established by the Ohio Law Enforcement Collaborative. This is a major accomplishment for such a small department. Law enforcement is undergoing a period like no other in recorded history and community expectations are increasingly more demanding. Safety is still our number one priority.
Our manpower limitations are frustrating considering the frequency and severity of the crimes we are experiencing in the community. I am committed to providing our officers the proper training and equipment in order to adequately respond and thoroughly investigate crimes. I believe if we improve the safety and quality of life in the community we will encourage people to live, work and visit Rittman. I have a vision for the future and I will continue to build on what I started here.
